Smoking is not a good idea period! This is because of the beliefs that are ‘attached’ to cigarettes especially and the manipulation by the tobacco companys
the CO in cigarettes will not do any good no matter what you believe an dmy late grandfather rev. A Cann was in his 90s when he died (last christmas day) he wanted to a book that he was reading was open to a page that said you know that you want to go so just let God take you home. it slightly proves your point but it also shows the power of prayer
I do not disagree with your comment-Remember the gravitational ‘pull’ of the thoughts and beliefs of the society in which we are surrounded
Poison is poison whether you believe it or not.
IE If I was a caveman and saw some berries. They looked delicious and I ate them and had no pre-determined belief attached to them. As I hunted and gathered I would not know that the Berries were poisonous and that in 6 hours I would be dead. The belief in that case would not stop the Berry poison from killing me. However, if you have a disease and truly believe u will be cured u will. With Ultimate cosmic belief u can do anything, literally.
you are my new hero , since i was a kid my thinking was like that
Not that I completely buy into this, but beliefs of other people or ‘observers’ should not be dismissed. If you read the original essay of G. Berkeley, where he discusses whether there is a sound of the falling tree when there is no one there to hear it, you will find that he concludes that there is always a sound because there is always the observer – God or some higher form of consciousness.
It is probably impossible to find a situation when there are no observers, and if you find it, guess what? You are the observer!
It appears to me that we create individual subjective realities that are based on a common objective reality. We interact with the common objective reality and each other through these individual subjective reality interfaces. We each create our own individual Mayas with which we interact with each other and the world.
“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.” ~Philip K. Dick
People who don’t believe cigarettes are harming them still get cancer. It’s just a biological result of smoking. I am not saying that attitude does not affect it, but there is only a certain degree to which optimism will help.
On an interesting side note, it has been scientifically proven that pessimists are more likely to develop and die from heart disease than optimists.
How do you verify if it goes away or not.How do you verify what ‘reality’ is.If no one believed in reality or no one was observing reality it would cease to exist!
That’s very hard to prove scientifically, but I’d like to see some objective evidence for this. Read the quote I gave again, by the way.
I have ever since i quit smoking been convinced that the cigarette companies or someone else with the agenda is paying ALOT! of money to make people believe that quiting smoking is the hardest thing you can do, I decided to quit one day after smoking 2-3 packets a day for along time and i have never smoked or thought about it ever since, super easy if your conscious, I did however see a tv show a few years ago that got me convinced i was gonna get testicular cancer and now my balls are lumpy
doesn’t that contradict your own logic?
remember in the bible that the apostle paul, after the wreck and coming onto the island, was bitten by a poisonous snake and the villagers thought he’d die and as he didn’t die the villagers thought he was a god or something enlightened
i don’t remember the reference but i remember the story, i think it’s in acts
ultimate cosmic belief is everything kuz if there’s a reality then it’s within the realm of the observer
this principle is called faith
No contradiction
We are co-creators, consciously or unconsciously
The “co” part means that we are not in complete control, hence there are laws inherent in the physical universe that will apply mechanically to you unless you have self & objective consciousness
A person, IE the caveman or any man, who is unconscious or ‘in wakeful sleep’ cannot consciously co-create so he or she will be subjected mechanically to the law of accident completely – IE berries killing him
Paul was conscious
i agree with what you said however, we’ll never be anymore than a “co” since we can never override the true source of life, that is, we cannot subjugate god
i was quoting someone when i mentioned contradiction, the quote didn’t work …
about the smokes, even if you bless them while you’re trying to stop, you’re automatically subconsciously agreeing that they’re bad thus the need to stop but if you “acknowledge” it as being nutritional you can, theoretically, transform it in a blessing
Your point is well taken
jim, take heroin for two years then tell yourself you are not addicted
Look,Iam not promoting recklessness.I tell you that substances have power only over (spiritually) asleep individuals, which is basically almost all of mankind. An awake(truly conscious) individual actually meta-programs reality. However no awake person would engage in habitual activity,to do so puts one asleep and therefore subject to the ‘law of accident’ which is society’s generalized beliefs about reality. So yes a habitual use of any substance willsubject you to the attached beliefs.
so if we cease existig the universe will cease existing because there is no one to observe it. Is that right?
the universe is a product of consciousness…God’s Consciousness…nothing exists outside of consciousness
I had a bizzare dream last noght. I made notes when I awakened so I could recall the dream. So I recalled it this am, not fully. It was bizzare. Gurdjieff was a smoker.
Substances are not the problem–hbitual behavior is !

I’m not trying to criticize but what about before we knew, and before scientists discovered cigarettes caused cancer among other things? People still died and got cancer without knowing it was bad for them.
Notg in tghe numbers we see now…besides ,they were still ‘habitual’ smokers (i.e. doing so un-consciously) and therefore subject to the ‘Law of accident’
