How I Quit Smoking
I have not had a cigarette, a cigar, a pipe or tobacco in any other form since November 17, 2006. I quit pretty much cold turkey. If you’re watching this in hopes to find some tips on how to quit, all I can say is willpower, willpower, willpower. No matter what method you use to quit, you have to want to quit and you have to fight those urges to light up again. Also, please make no mistake… I am not trying to be preachy here. I am not the type of person to tell anyone they have to quit. If I know someone is trying to quit, I will offer congratulations and encouragement, but I don’t urge anyone to quit. The reason for this is pretty simple: if people don’t want to quit, they won’t.

Smoking is bad for you, drinking is bad for you, food is bad for you, even the air that your breathe is bad for you. They say it’ll kill ya but they forget to tell you it’ll take 30 or 40 years to do it. So why worry? Everybody dies of something right? Would you rather live a healthy life and go jogging every day and breathe fresh air? Think of how silly you will feel when after all that you die healthy! – rob
@BlueFlamingoVlogs thats ok and thank u for replying back and i think i am going to do cold turkey again this time i hope i last longer then a month and 3 days and u are still sober like u did not had a smoke still .
I’m not a doctor so I don’t have much authority or knowledge about this, but it seems that only three years of smoking wouldn’t do that much damage. I smoked for twenty and didn’t have chest pains like that and my gums aren’t great, but they’re not that bad. I guess all you can do is try to quit and see if things get to feeling better.
Good luck!
Sorry it took so long to get to this. I really appreciate your comments. Cold turkey worked for me, but it might not work for you. If it doesn’t, you might want to ask your doctor about getting the patch or any other options. Cold turkey will definitely save you money, if it works for you.
on that quitting stuff sorry that i wrote so long.
i try to quit smoking lots of times and the longest i had quit smoking is one month and 3 days but the second day of my quitting i started again and never quit so far but me and my friend wants to try to quit smoking the same day jan 1st 2011 so my other ? is that those quitting stuff like the patch and gum is those things worth the money or is cold turkey the best thing to do thats what i bin doing before but i don’t think i be able to do that again and i kind of don’t want to spend money
so far i bin only smoking for 3 years now and i started age 17 but i want to try to quit smoking jan 1st 2011 my teeth doctor said that i need to quit smoking before he takes out my teeth feb 1st 2011 well not all my teeth just some of them he said its not good of me smoking its killing my gums and my teeth and do u think he is stupid about saying this to me and all most every day my chest hurts my mom and sister thinks my chest hurts because of me smoking this is not my first time quitting
@BlueFlamingoVlogs No worries… The craving lasted three frames or 1/10 of a second
Sorry about that.
This is why I can’t lose weight, I guess. I don’t want to bad enough, yet.
Now I want one… Thanks loads!!!
@BlueFlamingoVlogs lol
good for you– it is the same for losing weight etc. you have to want to.. willpower etc. don’t go back….
Yo have three years on me! Good job, girlfriend! That’s what I’m afraid of, and I’m glad you warned me about what happened to James. It will make me think harder about it before I actually do it.
Three or four a day isn’t bad. If I could hold myself to two or three a day, I would go back to smoking.
I’m glad you didn’t, too. But, I don’t really regret that I did. It’s nice to have had that experience, even if it makes it harder to stay away from them now.
My grandma was getting pretty tired of being told she didn’t have much longer and I think she was more tired of proving them wrong. She told me many times she was ready to go as if she couldn’t wait for it to happen.
Yep, it’s said to be the hardest thing to quit (I think sex might be harder… but I’ve never tried to quit that). You have to want to quit or you’ll never make it.
I wish I could sneak one now and then, but I know if I do I’ll be back to smoking regularly.
I used to work for the Ministry of Health in Tobacco Control and then I started smoking 2 years after leaving that job, quit smoking tobacco in January this year and I sneak one very rarely. I find I’m always drawn back to it and by the way, I had a similar experience with my gramma. Oxygen machine at her house in the end…..
Congrats on your 4 year anniversary of NOT smoking.. I quit Jan. 26th, 2004! I had smoked for 37 years and quit pretty much cold turkey too! I had tried many times and was never successful but once I made up mind about it, it became very easy to do!! No cravings at all!!
) Interesting the way you challenged yourself.. dang, this keeps stopping – never could get past 3:17.. I’ll check back later and see if I can watch the whole thing.. congratulations again!!
)
Well congrats on being quit for so long. I quit once for about a year and then smoked just one and then was right back at it. But yes cold turkey is the only way to go. I really do need to quit smoking but until im really ready to do it then that is the only way i can do it. I actualy enjoy smoking so that is the main prob my first 3 days were always very hard as well.
having problems with comments… I realize that it could not have been easy so congrats !
hahhahaha BILL CLINTON! That made me laugh! I am glad you quit smoking.
I’m in my 7th year of being quit smoking. I still want one. The craving doesn’t last long but it’s still there. Don’t smoke a cigar Adrian. James was quit for 8 years and he thought the same thing and yep… he started smoking cigs again. He’s been quit now as long as me. I smoked 31 years- 2 packs a day sometimes starting my 3rd. Heavy smoker! So glad you quit. Although at times I want a cigarette… I never want to go back! I quit Cold Turkey. Yep the best way! Hugs You!
