Why is quitting so hard?
The key reason is the severe cravings that are associated with the use of nicotine. What happens in your brain each time you light up a cigarette? When you smoke, nicotine sends a signal to your brain to release a chemical called dopamine that can give you a feeling of pleasure and calm. Unfortunately that feeling is short lived. So to achieve that feeling again, you have to light up another cigarette, and the craving process begins.
Smoke Remedy is a safe, all-natural product that has helped thousands of people across the country kick their smoking habit for good, without using expensive prescriptions or products that can cause side effects. Unlike the other stop smoking aids on the market, Smoke Remedy doesn’t try to replace nicotine by putting more nicotine into your body like the
gum or patch. Instead, it uses a proprietary all-natural blend of homeopathic ingredients to help you naturally eliminate your cravings for cigarettes and tobacco, and your desire to smoke, so that you can FINALLY quit!
Smoke Remedy also satisfies your hand to mouth habit because you carry it just like a pack of cigarettes, so when you get the urge to smoke, just spray Smoke Remedy into your mouth instead – it’s that easy to use! The best part of using Smoke Remedy is that it can also help prevent many of the withdrawal symptoms that people get when quitting – like irritability, anxiety, nervousness, and difficulty sleeping, and it is also safe to take with yourprescriptions and other medical conditions because it is a gentle, all-natural

The attempt to stop smoking is a very difficult endeavor. It entails will power and determination just to be able to control the cravings that may accompany the withdrawal stage. See, as a smoker tries to cleanse his body from the nicotine that he consumes, the body would continue to look for nicotine for it to be able to function properly. This craving will urge the smoker to just continue smoking so that his body needs can be satisfied. This is where his focus and strength of mind should come in. He needs to fight off the urge in order for him to start a non-smoking life.
Some smokers who are on the process of quitting resort to drugs to assist them during the withdrawal stage. Several medicines that are publicized by media are offered to the public to help defeat the urge to smoke; and they are designed to give pleasure to the brain in the same way the nicotine affects the brain. Because of these drugs, the smokers will feel exactly the same feeling as if they had just finished a stick; so as a result, there is really no need for the smokers to actually puff a cigarette.
Despite the help that you may get from drugs, you still have to put in mind that you still need to exert effort in order for you to successfully overcome the temptation to smoke. Be reminded that the first few days of your renunciation would really be the toughest, so you should be prepared to face the difficulty. To be able to do so, you should try your hardest to stay away from things which might remind you of smoking.
For instance, you may want to avoid places where you may encounter a lot of smokers, because you might be tempted to join their fun. For some people, they try to replace a cigarette with healthier foods life cinnamon sticks or celery just to satisfy the need to have something pressed between their lips; and if it is your hands which crave for something to hold on to, try to replace the cigarette stick with a pencil or anything which may take its place. If you are the kind of person who associates smoking with drinking, then you may want to avoid drinking alcohol as well. Keep your mind of the idea of smoking, and keep yourself busy so that you would forget the temptation to smoke.
If despite all your efforts to avoid smoking, you are still craving for a puff, you may want to try these few tricks just to satisfy your longing:
Light a matchstick instead of a cigarette, and pretend that it is a cigarette stick that you are holding. This trick may cheat your brain, and it may gratify your urge if it does not, you can always treat yourself with a refreshing bath. Think of why you are quitting, and stay focused. Remind yourself of your objectives, and constantly repeat to yourself that you are strong enough to win this battle against smoking. Do not think that a single stick will have no effect on your struggle to stop, otherwise you might start from the very beginning again. And, do not be afraid to ask for your family’s and friends’ support, because in your journey to stop smoking, you need a strong support system.

Why can’t I cure my own bad habit?
If you have a bad habit – such as comfort eating, smoking or an addiction to gambling or alcohol, for example, then you can probably answer the question for yourself. A lot of us simply can’t kick a bad habit on our own – we tend to say that it’s because we don’t have the willpower to actually carry it through.
The fact is that any kind of bad habit takes hold of you both psychologically and physically. So, when you try to kick the habit yourself you have to deal with a lot of mental stress and physical side effects that can really throw you. So, for many people, it’s simply easier to pick up the bad habit again to make the nasty symptoms go away. This doesn’t make us weak or mean that we lack willpower – it simply means that our bad habit has taken such a hold we need external help to deal with it once and for all.
How can hypnosis help?
There are all kinds of methods you can try to help you kick a bad habit. Most of these will try and appeal to your brain on a conscious level. So, for example, you might go along to a ‘Quit
Smoking’ group where you socialize with other smokers and counsel each other on the effects of smoking and so on. On a purely rational level you will walk out of a meeting knowing that smoking is bad for you and knowing that you want to quit.
But, it isn’t that easy. The rational side of your brain might be telling you all this but your subconscious may still be hanging on to the fact that you are a smoker and could be telling you to go into the nearest store and buy a pack right away! So, to put it simply, hypnosis deals with the subconscious thus making it far easier for you to quit effectively.
Going for hypnosis sessions to cure a bad habit will simply help ALL of your mind focus on the goal of giving up. The methods used by hypnotherapists vary. Some, for example, use a form of aversion therapy that makes you feel slightly nauseous at the thought of smoking. Others simply tell your subconscious that you are not a smoker so – after your session, you’ll act like a non-smoker because your brain is telling you to.
Can it help me quit smoking?
Hypnosis is a great way of quitting smoking. So many of the issues involved with nicotine addiction are psychological so this form of therapy works perfectly here. The fact is that many good hypnotherapists can help you quit smoking in just one session.
As this form of therapy is so suited to quitting smoking, many hypnotherapists receive specialized training in helping people overcome smoking addictions. If you are considering using hypnotherapy to quit then it’s also worthwhile looking for therapists that are also trained in neurolinguistic programming or NLP. NLP is a scientific advancement which works great in tandem with hypnosis – it’s designed to help people take control of their actions.
Valerie Dawson, MSW, CHt has been a hypnotherapist for 18 years. She has undertaken special training in hypnosis techniques for smoking cessation and has helped hundreds of people quit successfully with her Easy Quit Hypnosis Program.
